ContentFilm Plc Announces The Uk Release Of The Triumph Of Love

8 August, 2004

Starring MIRA SORVINO & BEN KINGSLEY

Directed by Clare Peploe, Produced by Bernardo Bertolucci Written by Clare Peploe, Marilyn Goldin & Bernardo Bertolucci

TRIUMPH OF LOVE is Clare Peploe's directorial debut. Co-written and produced by Bernardo Bertolucci (THE DREAMERS, LAST TANGO IN PARIS) it is an old-fashioned romantic comedy of errors, adapted from the Maurivaux's play. Starring Ben Kingsley (HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG, SEXY BEAST), Mira Sorvino (BAMBOOZLED, SUMMER OF SAM) and Fiona Shaw (HARRY POTTER) , TRIUMPH OF LOVE is a charming fun filled romp.

A beautiful and bold Princess (Mira Sorvino), falls head over heels for her sworn enemy Agis (Jay Rodan), the rightful heir to the Princess' stolen kingdom. To get close to Agis, who is exiled in a secluded villa, she first must get past his life-long protectors: the rational philosopher Hemocrates (Ben Kingsley) and his scientific spinster sister Leontine (Fiona Shaw), who have raised Agis to avoid all things romantic and emotional. Using her powerful talent for seduction - and slipping back and forth between male and female personalities - the Princess whittles away the defences of everyone in the villa. But, in the process, she winds up engaged to three different people and when she attempts to unravel her wildly tangled web, she risks losing the very heart she was aiming for in the first place.

"THE TRIUMPH OF LOVE" is an Italy-UK co-production, Fiction Recorded Picture Company in association with Medusa Film S.P.A and Odeon Pictures. Distributed by ContentFilm plc it will open in cinemas across the UK on October 8th 2004. Certificate PG. Running Time 112 minutes.
