Robert Flaherty was the very first to bring us a film (‘Nanook of the North’) based on the idea that reality could be as gripping as fiction. This story of adventure, heartbreak and the birth of an art form enjoyed wild success and encouraged Robert Flaherty to go on and shoot such epics as ‘Moana of the Island’, ‘Man of Aran' and ‘The Louisiana Story’. It proved to be the genesis of a medium.
