This murder mystery explores the darkest corners of the human soul, overflowing with nail-biting plot twists and seasoned with black comedy. Great Bear is a fictional mining town in northern Quebec where ancient beliefs run up against modern technology. With the mysterious murder of Blanche Von Trieck, a well-loved and a spiritual pillar of the community, all things good and sacred seem to perish too, and fear and suspicion take hold. Her son is in shock and remembers nothing, and her traumatized granddaughter hasn’t spoken a word since the event. Coincidence or not, another catastrophe has struck as well: since the night of Blanche’s death, all televisions in town have stopped working. New murders and more disturbing events ensue, and the authorities can’t bring the situation under control. It’s up to Jean-Charles Lapointe, a stranger to the town, to solve these mysteries… but Lapointe has no idea what he’s in for.
